-----------------------------------------
Today I went out for a walk, wandered round town before going to a milkshake cafe I'd had my eye on for a while.
First, I went into a charity shop that was clearing out for refurbishments. Picked up 5 new books, 4 DVDs and 3 CDs for only £3, which was great, especially as I not only got a nice bundle of classics for myself, but also found a perfect little gift for my mum tomorrow, as well as something I thought my stepdad might like for Father's day this year.
Whilst in town, I had a look at the farmer's market stalls, which cropped up every Saturday, and found one selling varieties of infused chocolate. I sampled a few different flavours, voicing my delight, and ended up buying a small bar of Chilli Chocolate Fudge for £1.20 and a small, solid spoon-shaped piece of dark chocolate for 60p, which I nibbled on my way to the cafe.
When I got there, I went in and ordered a Reese's Cup flavoured milkshake, with marshmallows and whipped cream for £3.25, and sat down to wait for it. I had been in there before, staring longingly at the board behind the counter, decorated with a huge variety of chocolate bars, sweets and other delightful flavours that they mixed into milkshakes. I had been unable to have any of them before, as I didn't know the calories.
It arrived, and it was beautiful. It tasted magical, and I almost cried as I slowly sipped the milky heaven before me. It had been so very long since I had tried something new, and had enjoyed it without caring about its numbers.
At that moment, I almost cried, not just because of the delightful drink, but because for the first time in my life I felt like I might have a future not controlled by food and numbers.
